This report was commissioned by Green Budget Germany, as part of a project for the German international cooperation agency (GTZ currently GIZ).
The project had the objective of identify and describe the major economic instruments regarding waste management in these 3 countries. In the Spanish case various taxes on waste disposal, the main integrated management systems and some interesting experiences of municipal waste charges were analysed. In the Chilean case, municipal waste charges and a system of deposit- refund scheme for beverage containers were the object of analysis. Finally, the case of Argentina was focused on municipal waste charges and on a charge on hazardous waste generators.
