The Metropolitan Transport Entity of Barcelona levies a surcharge on the real estate tax of eighteen municipalities in its area to finance public transport. In order to analyze and to explore other ways to fund public transport, the CONFAVC (Confederation of Neighbourhood Associations of Catalonia) commissioned a study to ENT. The study contained alternative proposals for funding public transport and to restructure the existing charges.
