Waste linked to advertising activities represents a not negligible (and growing) part of municipal waste. Although most of this waste is recyclable, often it ends up on the floor of the entrances of households, or as litter in the streets, without being ultimately recycled. The city council of Barcelona, aware of this problem, has undertaken several initiatives to address this problem. In 2012 it commissioned to ENT a diagnostic study of the waste generated by publicity in the city of Barcelona.
