The calculation of material flows indicators is a powerful tool to monitor the physical dimension of economies. However, the accounting for imports and exports covers the mass of products traded and therefore underestimates the total mass of materials used in their manufacture. The purpose of the project is to calculate the equivalent raw materials of commerce in Catalonia, in order to complete the indicators derived from material flow accounts and to have a more precise perspective of the environmental burdens that Catalonia places on other territories, and that other territories place on Catalonia.
