The scope of the report was 13 municipalities integrated in a consortium located in the northeast of the Ourense province (Spain).
The goal was to develop proposals to move towards sustainable waste management practices.
The study consisted of a comprehensive diagnosis on the waste management situation in the area, both in terms of generation, composition and results of collection, and an evaluation of the costs for the agents involved. Based on this diagnosis, some targets on waste prevention, recovery and separate collection were defined.
Based on these objectives, proposals in waste prevention, collection, processing, legislative regulation, waste charging and taxation, and environmental communication were developed.
