This study was commissioned by the Swedish Environmental Research Institute This institute coordinates the RECO BALTIC 21 TECH project (http://www.recobaltic21.net), which aims at improving the capacity of the countries of the Baltic Sea Region by sharing strategies and technologies in relation to waste management. This report consisted on an analysis of the current waste management situation in the Mediterranean region, to put the foundations for the future realization of a RECO-MEDA project. This project would draw lessons from the RECO BALTIC 21 TECH project and help transferring knowledge to the Mediterranean countries.
