ENT researcher Rosaria Chifari, LIFE4EPR Project Coordinator, took part as a speaker in the Eionet CE: Deep Dive #4 – Economic instruments to scale up the circular economy in the EU single market: focus on Extended Producer Responsibility, an event organised by Eionet, the European Environment Information and Observation Network that supports collaboration between the European Environment Agency (EEA) and environmental institutions across Europe.

During the workshop, Chifari delivered the presentation “Project LIFE4EPR: taking stock of EPR schemes in Europe”. She provided an overview of the LIFE4EPR project, coordinated by ENT, its objectives and expected results, and shared key findings from the project’s mapping of EPR schemes across all 27 EU Member States. The mapping provides an overview of the product streams covered by EPR, Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs), and national registration systems across the EU.

The LIFE4EPR project aims to support policymaking by improving the effectiveness, governance and performance of EPR schemes across the EU, contributing towards greater harmonisation at European level.

The event brought together experts from European institutions, international organisations and national authorities to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing EPR schemes, exchange best practices, and explore policy solutions to strengthen their contribution to the circular economy.
