The European Environment Agency commissioned to the European Topic Centre (ETC) on Sustainable Consumption and Production several regional studies on waste management in 2013. In this context, the Copenhagen Resource Institute, who was leading the ETC, asked ENT to draft the Spanish part of such studies. For this, data on municipal waste management in Spain was collected and analysed; and interviews, visits and meetings with managers of waste from the two selected regions (Catalonia and Castile-La Mancha) were conducted. Finally, a report was prepared, identifying barriers and driving forces of waste management at regional level.
