The BEAVER project (Bridging prEvention And preparedness in ciVil protEction with adaptation through inclusive proximity Resilience actions) officially started on 1 April 2026 under the 2025 call of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) within the programme line Knowledge for Action in Prevention and Preparedness (UCPM‑2025‑KAPP‑PVPP). The consortium held its first consortium gathering in Florence on 22–23 May 2026, marking the operational launch of the project’s activities.

Steering Committee Kickoff

The first day brought partners together for the Steering Committee meeting, where Work Package leaders presented initial updates and aligned on priorities for the pilot activities in the RPLs, stakeholder mapping and engagement, volunteer training, the collection of best practices, and the dissemination and communication plan, among other topics.

Public Kickoff within the First Civil Protection Day

On the second day, the project was presented to the public during the First Civil Protection Day, organised with the Metropolitan City of Florence and the Municipality of Vaglia. The programme included demonstrations, educational activities, and an institutional conference on civil protection and resilience.

A dedicated panel, “Voices from the Territories”, featured representatives from the four BEAVER pilot municipalities — Vaglia, Montespertoli, Vilanova i la Geltrú, and Oeiras — moderated by Anci Toscana. The session highlighted local challenges and expectations for the project’s implementation.

The Florence meeting successfully launched BEAVER’s collaborative work and public engagement activities, setting the foundation for strengthened resilience across the participating territories.
