The BEAVER project – Bridging prEvention And preparedness in ciVil protEction with adaptation through inclusive proximity Resilience actions – will hold its kick-off meeting in Florence (Italy) on May 22 and 23.
All consortium partners will attend the meeting, during which the project’s initial progress will be presented, along with the next steps and overall planning.
- 22 May – Project kick-off meeting at the headquarters of ANCI Toscana, the project coordinator.
- 23 May – Public project event, jointly organised with a large-scale metropolitan Civil Protection exercise taking place in the municipality of Vaglia.
The main objective of BEAVER is to strengthen disaster preparedness and community resilience, with a particular focus on vulnerable groups, and to integrate climate change adaptation into the field of civil protection. To achieve this, the project plans to establish several Resilience Proximity Laboratories (RPLs) in four European regions: Oeiras (Portugal), Vilanova i la Geltrú (Catalonia), and Montespertoli and Vaglia (Tuscany, Italy).
The project, which started this April, involves eight partners:
- From Italy: the Association of Tuscan Municipalities (ANCI Toscana), the regional government (Regione Toscana), the consultancy Progecom srl, and the municipalities of Montespertoli and Vaglia.
- From Catalonia: ENT and the City Council of Vilanova i la Geltrú.
- From Portugal: the Municipality of Oeiras, in the Lisbon metropolitan area.
