Following the publication of the Guide for the Implementation of Pay-as-You-Throw (PAYT) Schemes for Municipal Waste, prepared by ENT for the Waste Agency of Catalonia, work is already underway on its translation into Spanish and English.
The guide, recently presented, brings together in a single document the technical, legal, economic and operational knowledge required to design and implement pay-as-you-throw waste charging systems with confidence. The document covers aspects such as the different charging models linked to door-to-door collection or locked-container systems, the design of fixed and variable fee components, identification technologies, associated costs, legal and data protection requirements, as well as the different phases of implementation and monitoring.
The growing interest in these economic instruments within the field of waste management has highlighted the value of making the guide available in other languages, enabling the Catalan experience to be shared with public administrations, organisations and professionals from other regions and countries.
