CirBioWaste is a two-year Interreg Euro-MED project that started on April 1st, 2025. The project aims to enhance environmental resilience and support the transition to an efficient and circular bioeconomy in the Mediterranean area. It does so by promoting significant changes in behavior, governance, and management practices related to bio-waste, while closing its value chain loop-yielding notable environmental and economic benefits. The project Consortium includes: UAB (Catalonia), Fundació ENT (Catalonia), CIC (Italy), Zero (Portugal), REAP (Bulgaria), ECOREC (Greece)

To help reverse the current situation, CirBioWaste will transfer existing, innovative, and validated solutions for sustainable bio-waste management, adapted to various local contexts. Strategies and action plans -including policy recommendations and practical guidelines for implementing the proposed solutions- will be co-developed with targeted entities and key local stakeholders. This will be done in collaboration with six experienced project partners and 19 project associates, including organizations from Catalonia and Italy with extensive expertise in bio-waste management, as well as other EU networks advocating for the topic.

Fundació ENT will lead WP 2 – Sharing knowledge and raising awareness by providing supporting tools and capacity building to embed the change towards innovative sustainable bio-waste management solutions to close the loop and promote circular bioeconomy by providing supporting tools (toolkit), building capacity (capacity building events) and assistance support, gathering and sharing know-how (knowledge platform) capitalizing information from past and on-going European projects and initiatives.
