The aim of this study was to identify which environmental services were provided by the natural spaces of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, and monetarily assess the provision of food services. The study includes an analysis of the methodologies applied to the valuation of environmental services and a characterization of the natural areas of the AMB: natural parks, urban parks, agricultural parks, beaches, continental shelf and other protected areas. As for the assessment of all environmental services, the study includes a qualitative assessment based on existing methodologies. As for the service of food provision, monetary valuation is performed based on data of agricultural and livestock production, fishing, and collection of fungi, plants and berries.
