Fundació ENT participated in the first online capacity-building session of the WOODCIRCLES programme, organised by Urbasofia, on 27 January and specifically designed for Rotterdam stakeholders. The session marked the start of a three-part capacity-building programme aimed at supporting local public authorities, businesses, designers and construction professionals in advancing wood circularity in practice.
During the session “Wood Circularity: impact, products, wood construction and circular business models”, Verónica Martínez (Fundació ENT) presented on the sustainability benefits of building with reclaimed wood, highlighting the life-cycle approach and the three sustainability pillars applied within the WOODCIRCLES project. Further contributions included Fabia Baumann (Danish Technological Institute), who presented the Urban Sawmill concept and the production of new engineered wood products from reclaimed wood; Felix Antman Debels (Folkhem Trä AB), who shared practical experience from timber construction and discussed options to make timber construction more circular; and Wolfram Allinger-Csollich (EasyScience), who addressed business models enabling circular use of wood in urban construction.
The next capacity-building session, also targeting Rotterdam stakeholders, will take place in June and will focus on Design for Assembly and Disassembly and digital tools, further strengthening knowledge on circular wood construction.
