The SCORE (Smart Control of the Climate Resilience in European Coastal Cities) project is set to commence the third and final edition of its Climate Adaptation Training School, focusing on “Legacy and Innovation in Coastal Climate Adaptation.” This initiative aims to enhance the resilience of European coastal cities against climate-related challenges.
Programme Overview:
- Online Lecture: Scheduled for February 11, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:30 CET, this session will feature experts discussing topics such as nature-based solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation, citizen science, and smart cities. The lecture will commence with an introduction to the SCORE project by Coordinator Salem Gharbia, followed by discussions on empowering coastal cities to adapt to evolving climate risks. Attendees can participate in parallel talks available in multiple languages, including English, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovenian, Spanish, and Turkish.
The Spanish session is entitled “Innovation and nature for the resilience of climate cities: SCORE project results. It will be co-presented by the ENT member Mar Riera Spiegelhalder
- Geodesign Games Sessions: These sessions are designed to simulate urban planning scenarios, allowing participants to collaborate on implementing ecosystem-based approaches. Local workshops will be organized in all Coastal City Living Labs (CCLLs) to address specific community needs and interests.
In Vilanova i la Geltrú this workshop will be organized on March 20th. Register information will be coming soon.
- Local Activities & Wrap-up Events: Between February and March 2025, various citizen engagement activities will take place across the 10 SCORE CCLLs. Depending on local priorities and capacities, events may include DIY sensor workshops, geodesign games, geo-survey mapathons, guided tours, public debates, awareness-raising events, exhibitions, and social club activities.

The SCORE project, a four-year EU-funded initiative, aims to increase climate resilience in European coastal cities by addressing challenges such as sea-level rise, coastal erosion, and extreme weather events through integrated solutions involving smart technologies and nature-based approaches.
