On 20–21 October, Barcelona hosted the 1st Steering Committee meeting of the project LIFE4EPR Towards harmonized Extended Producer Responsibility schemes across the EU. This is a project funded by the LIFE programme, which aims to strengthen and harmonise Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) systems across the European Union.
The project, which started in May 2025 and runs for two years, focuses on the development and testing of a pilot European register of producers/products subject to EPR — a digital platform designed to assess the feasibility of a more coordinated, transparent, and efficient approach to EPR governance.
The meeting, held at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, brought together 15 representatives from the project’s partner organisations. The first day was devoted to reviewing progress on tasks and work packages (WPs), while the second day featured specific working sessions for each WP.
The project partners are:
-
ENT
-
ACR+ (Belgium)
-
WEEE Forum (Belgium)
-
Zero Waste Europe (ZWE) (Belgium)
-
ECO (Italy)
-
Sotelo (Spain)
-
Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) (Belgium)
Through this meeting, the LIFE4EPR consortium reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a more sustainable and coherent approach to producer responsibility at the European level.
