Registrations are now open for the 6th edition of the Forest Innovation Workshop and OptFor-EU Mid-Term Conference. The venue will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on February 11th and 12th.

Co-organized by the ERIAFF network (European Regions for Innovation in Agriculture, Food and Forestry), the European Forest Institute (EFI) and its Bioregions Facility, the European Confederation of Forest Owners (CEPF), the European State Forest Association (EUSTAFOR), the European Farmers and Agri-Cooperatives (COPA-COGECA), the European Landowners’ Organization (ELO) and Euromontana, and the projects FOREST4EU and OptFor-EU, this 2-day event is a unique opportunity to engage with policymakers, forest owners, practitioners, researchers, associations, and NGOs.

Together, we will explore the latest innovations, discuss regional priorities, and foster collaboration among key stakeholders in the forest-based sector. The event is cost-free and will be held in English. More information and registrations here.

Report on new Forest Management Practices (FMP) in forest models release

The latest report from the OptFor-EU project explores innovative forest management practices across Austria, Romania, and Italy, studying how they respond to different climate scenarios. The report provides key insights on the integration of these practices into climate models, highlighting the importance of forest management in mitigating climate change impacts and reinforcing the role of adaptive strategies in forest conservation.

Utilising advanced forest modelling tools, including PICUS and 3D-CMCC-FEM, different forest management practices were simulated at the stand and regional levels. Simulations account for age classes and climate change effects. Preliminary results emphasise the impact of tailored management strategies on forest sustainability and resilience, and suggest various forest management options at the regional level.
