The forthcoming meetings of the Working Grops of the Aquaculture Advisory Council (AAC) will take place on 28th of February and 1st of March, in Paris. The three Working Groups of AAC focus on fish aquaculture, shellfish aquaculture and horizontal issues, respectively. Irmak Ertör represents the Foundation ENT in AAC and will attend the meetings and continue to collaborate with the Seas At Risk (SAR). With the coordination of SAR, a wide range of NGOs come together in AAC meetings as well as in monthly teleconferences and share their expertise and knowhow on aquaculture and discuss important and up-to-date topics related to aquaculture and marine policies.
The next meetings in Paris will be the first general ones of 2018 after having closed the last year with a General Assembly at the end of September 2017, and several aquaculture sector and NGO representatives will participate. As part of the agenda, different subgroups working on special issues like Marine Protected Areas and aquaculture, animal welfare and aquaculture, definition of the responsible and sustainable aquaculture concept will inform the rest of the members about their advances and open the floor to debate and decide the next steps on how to proceed until the next meeting.
