ENT Environment and Management was founded in 2002 to conduct innovative projects in the area of environmental management. Later, in 2010, Fundació ENT was also created as a private non-for-profit research centre. The founding members of both institutions were:
Ignasi Puig Ventosa is an industrial engineer by the Politechnical University of Catalonia, economist by the UNED and PhD in Environmental Sciences by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He also obtained an MSc in Monitoring, Modelling and Management of Environmental Change by King’s College London. His main research area is the use of market-based instruments for environmental policies, particularly related to municipal waste management. He has written several books on these topics, along with a number of technical and scientific papers in national and international journals. Since 2002 he is head of projects at ENT Environment and Management, and since 2012 he also works for Fundació ENT, a foundation linked to ENT Environment and Management focused on environmental research. In 2007 he worked as an environment advisor for the Spanish Parliament (Madrid) and in 2008 as external researcher at the OECD (Paris).
Miquel Ortega Cerdà is an expert in political ecology, ecological economics and fisheries. In the past he has held various positions as a researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in the departments of physics and in the institute of veterinary science and environmental technologies. He has also worked as a consultant in the field of corporate organization for 8 years. PhD in environmental sciences UAB (2011), Master in ecological economics and environmental management, UAB (2000), Director of Operations and Innovation ESADE (2001), Master in physics, UAB (1999) degree in Physics UB (1997 ). Main editor of the journal Ecología Política. Cuadernos de debate interancional in 2006-2015. He has published numerous books and articles in international journals.
Juanjo Navarro Iraegui is a Telecommunications Engineer (1998) and Industrial Engineer Electricity (2011) from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. In 1998 he obtained a Master in Environmental Management by the Catalan Institute of Technology. Specialized in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy has developed his career in several consulting firms in the sector. He is the coordinator of the Energy Area in ENT, which develops studies and consulting projects to help improve planning and energy management in organizations such as public administration and the private sector.
Jesus Ramos Martín is an ecological economist with expertise in the field of economic development and the evolution of economic systems from a biophysical perspective, applying the concepts of thermodynamics and the theory of complex systems. He has experience in social metabolism, integrated environmental assessment and multi-criterial social assessment. In the past he has been professor in the Department of Economics and Economic History of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). It was also a researcher and professor at the Institute of Social Ecology at the University of Klagenfurt (Austria), and the Italian INRAN. His research is closely linked to Latin America, where he has been a visiting professor of ecological economics at FLACSO (Quito headquarters) and guest professor of biophysical indicators Complexity in the National University (Colombia) and in the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). He has been part of the publishing team of the Revista Iberoamericana de Economía Ecológica for more than 8 years. Currently he is the director of IKIAM Universidad Regional Amazónica, in Ecuador.
